Mt. Tamalpais & Mt. Diablo

Ahhh.... The treacherous climb up Mt. Tamalpais!

From our campsite at the Pantoll Campground, we hiked the Matt Davis Trail to West Point Inn.

As we were approaching West Point Inn, a couple passed us on the trail. The guy was zooming - and you could tell the lady was getting inpatient at the dude's pace. But when we hit West Point Inn, we discovered that he had just proposed. We overheard her ask "Were you nervous at all about this?" His response: "Well, yeah! That's why I was hiking so fast!" The girl then said "I know, you were hauling butt!"

How sweet!

Note the top left corner of this sign says "If it wasn't in your body, don't put it in the potty."

From West Point Inn, we took the Railroad Grade/Fire Road to the summit of Mt. Tamalpais (as suggested by a friend).

At first we were a bit bummed because we learned people could drive to the summit. Knowing this sorta took all the excitement and sense of accomplishment of climbing up... but nonetheless, the views were spectacular.

There were more humming birds and mountain bikers along the trail than we've ever seen.
We could see for miles and miles and miles - downtown San Francisco and as far as Mt. Diablo!

We hung out for a good 1.5 hours soaking up the sun.

On the way down, I busted my butt... literally! I'd show you the bruise, but I really don't want to post a picture of my bruised behind on a public blog. Sorry if you are disappointed. Richie was there to rescue me... bandaging up the scrapes on my feet.

Mt. Diablo

Our climb to Mt. Diablo was short and sweet. Guiltily, we drove to the summit. Shame, shame on us.

We spent the day walking to Rock City - watching kids climb in and out of the Wind Caves and nervous moms saying "Be careful!"

I wish I could take credit for these phenomenal sunset pictures... but all the credit goes to Mr. Richie. He patiently waited on the hillside of Mt. Diablo for these incredible images to appear and then capture them.
